FAQ

We answered the most popular questions

  • (1) Can anyone other than me drive a rental car?
By providing the necessary documents, it is possible to add and insure an additional driver under the same rental agreement, although this may result in additional costs depending on the specific car chosen and the rental company's policies.

In the event of an accident involving a rental car, if the person behind the wheel is not officially registered, the police may hold you responsible, potentially resulting in a fine and other penalties.
  • (2) What kind of driver's license do I need to rent a car in the Emirates?
To rent a car in the UAE, you will need a valid driver's license from your home country or an International Driver's Permit (IDP). If your license is issued in English and uses the Latin alphabet, you may not need an IDP. It is worth noting that the minimum age to rent a car in Dubai is usually 21 years old. Before renting a car, you need to check the local driving rules and regulations. In the UAE, driving is on the right side of the road, and seat belts are mandatory for both the driver and passengers. Speed limits are strictly enforced, and the use of a mobile phone while driving is prohibited. It is highly recommended that you always carry important documents such as your passport, driver's license, and IDP when you are driving in Dubai.
  • (3) Is it possible to smoke in a car?
No, smoking is prohibited inside the car. If it is established that you are smoking in the car, the rental company will oblige you to pay a fine.
  • (4) How often do you encounter traffic jams in Dubai?
Just like another equally popular city, Dubai has its share of traffic jams. There are a large number of locals and tourists, there are places with narrow roads and other factors that affect traffic. To avoid traffic jams, use the Google navigator; it perfectly displays traffic congestion in real time. In general, there are traffic jams in Dubai during peak hours – from 7 to 9 am and from 5 to 8 pm.
